Artist's Comments

Inspired by the poem 'Der Leser' (The Reader) by Rainer Maria Rilke which I include here both in English translation and the original written in the summer of 1908 in Paris! :music:

The Reader

Who knows him, this one, who sank his face
away out of its being into another,
that only the quick turning of full pages
sometimes violently interrupts?

Even his own mother would not be sure
if it is him, who reads there, that which is
drenched by his shadow. And we, who had hours,
- what do we know, how much of him faded away, till

he looked up with effort, taking on everything
which happened in the book below
with eyes, that, instead of taking, give,
while pressing against the complete world:
like quiet children, who have played alone,
suddenly experience that which is at hand;
and yet his features, ordered as they were,
remained forever rearranged.

(trans. =rad-ix :D)

Der Leser (original :aww:)

Wer kennt ihn, diesen, welcher sein Gesicht
wegsenkte aus dem Sein zu einem zweiten,
das nur das schnelle Wenden voller Seiten
manchmal gewaltsam unterbricht?

auf einmal das Vorhandene erfahren;
doch seine Züge, die geordnet waren,
blieben für immer umgestellt.

Sal, somehow, I can see his words here...or at least the feeling behind them

I've often wondered about the inspiration behind your friend Art, and how it gets from your mind to your canvas...(don't tell me, it is better to NOT know)

Is the word "wunderbar"? I'm sure there are stronger more enthusiastic words in German, French, English, or any other world language but they would all be too weak.

The only thing better would be seeing this in person.

My flaws are better than your flaws

Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental.

I'm stunned! I like very much the strict lines on the one side and the "!wet" ones on the other! very nice connection! Great job!

If there's one good thing about dying, it's the comforting thought that I'll never again hear the term Baby Boomers, or any of it's variants.

I see your butter, and raise you some cheddar cheese!

That's beautiful because you can view it in so many ways....one way it looks like two hands and in another it looks like two groups of people facing eachother.

Fascinating :)
